2011 Gathering -- Christ Men and Community

What do you get if you mix together an ex-paramilitary leader from Manchester, a Street Healer, Dynamic Prayer leader and Youth Leader from Bath, add a group of young musicians from Worcester and Birmingham, and then stir in the presence of 75 men from the Bath and Bristol area?
Answer – the second 100 men convention at St. Johns and Emmanuel, Lower Weston, Bath, which was held on 24th September!
Following last year’s event the title ‘Christ, Men and Community’ was chosen to reflect the desire to present men from the district with inspirational speakers, practical advice, worship and prayer aimed at encouraging an understanding of how God’s will can be taken out into the world
The main speaker was David Hamilton who turned to Christ whilst serving time in the Maze prison in Ireland, the story of how God took him from where he was, and lead him to running a successful church in Manchester was as heart-warming and humorous as it was hard-hitting and brutally truthful, providing a powerful illustration of how God can turn around any situation. Healing on the Streets pastor Paul Skelton and Andrew Leakey completed the speaker’s line-up with talks which highlighted the importance of taking God’s word out (“Of all the Miracles Christ performs only three take place within a church building”) and Prayer respectively. Such was the feeling of God’s presence that all three speakers offered ministry which was taken up by many of the delegates.
Seminars on working with Young People and Dynamic Prayer were run by Steve Moore and Michael Norman. Worship sessions were lead by a group from the Worcester/Birmingham area. The day included a free hot meal and welcome drinks and plenty of time for fellowship. ‘A blessed day indeed’; ‘Fabulous - Inspiring men of God who have a simple but profound trust’; ‘Great and Challenging’; ‘This year was better than last - next years will be better still’; ‘It offered me a chance to become a better Christian’
Plans are in hand for another convention next year, there are also a limited number of CD’s of key parts of the event available – if you would like more details or information please contact Paul Carter by email – paul@carters54.wanadoo.co.uk
